Good news. No broken bones. The doctor called last night and said she didn't see anything, but if the radiologist spotted something she didn't she'd call today. Well, no calls, so I think everything is going to be ok.

Henry's playing in Grendel's travel crate right now. He loves climbing in and knocking things around in there. I thought it was perfectly safe, if a little dirty, in there, but a few weeks ago he found a piece of cat food left over from when Derek and Stephanie borrowed it for their convalescing cat. Well, I heard him spitting in there and went to investigate. He'd tried cat food and wasn't finding it to his liking.

I got a call today from Henry's daycare. They couldn't find Angie. Apparently a former teacher at the daycare had visited and closed the main door on Henry's finger. Accident, sure, but I was still none too pleased.

It was swollen pretty bad, and Angie took him to get an X-Ray as soon as she could. We get results tomorrow.

Henry has learned to play Hide and Go Seek.

He doesn't know to wait yet, so I have to take off running after putting him down. But, he loves trying to find me. I hear his little feet patter in pursuit. He first checks the last place I've hidden and then proceeds from there until he's found me.

Angie said we should try to see if he wants to do the Hide part sometime. I'm not sure I'm ready for Henry to start hiding in any context yet.

Henry said 'bye' to both of us and waved when we dropped him off at daycare. Sad, in that he was ok with us leaving, but great, in that he's enjoying his new friends. It's also a sign he's growing up, and that's happening way too fast.

Henry got to go to his first Gay Pride parade in San Francisco today. He seemed to enjoy what floats he could see, but we didn't stay long. I'm glad he gets to grow up in a place that understands that people's just people.

Henry did a few notable things today. First, according to Angie, he said the name 'Victor' a few times. Victor is apparently his new fast friend in daycare. He also finally figured out his little push toy that Miriam gave him for his first birthday. He always enjoyed it, but today he was pushing it around in the approved manner. He just figured it out.

Also, I made the first mark of his height on the entrance to his bedroom. 6/21/06. I didn't have a chance to measure it yet, but he seemed to be acting more boy-like and less baby-like today, so it seemed a good time to start capturing the data at someplace other than his doctors office. It's only been the last few months that he's been able to stand still long enough to attempt it.

We (Angie and I) had intended to capture a lot more of his earliest months someplace a while ago. I've got various notes around, but I think I am going to start adding recent memories as well. Hopefully I can get Angie on board as well.

Oh, and another game that Henry mostly created on his own today. He had been climbing up the side of the leather couch in the living room and throwing himself onto one of the center cushions. He fell off the other side the other day, and hurt himself.

So when he started trying it again today, I didn't want to risk him going over the other side. So, I stacked up a big pile of pillows in front of the couch, and he happily threw himself into them for the next half hour.

Climb couch, jump, giggle uncontrolably, repeat ....
Today Henry did something very mind boggling. He has this little "Hop and Pop" toy we picked up at Chloe's Closet many months ago. He enjoyed it a bit before he was able to crawl, but has mostly ignored it since then.

This afternoon he was playing in the basement, and he just crawled up onto the thing and set himself down into it unassisted. Totally amazing. It's difficult to negotiate him in there myself.

And, then, when it didn't make any noise, he reached around to the front and flipped the switch. Sure. He flipped the wrong switch, but he was so very close. The kid amazes me more and more every day.
